The width of the channel decreases until no more current flows CHAPTER 2
between the Drain and the Source. The FET is said to be "pinched-
off" or "cut-off". (similar to the cut-off region for a BJT).

When VDS >> VP, the channel closes, or known as "Pinched-off".

VGS(off): It is the Gate-Source voltage (VGS) where the channel
is completely cut-off and the Drain current, ID becomes zero
Ampere.
