                                  THR EE OPERATING REGIONS FOR JFET :

           1. OHMIC REGION

           When VGS = 0, the depletion layer of the channel is very small and the JFET

           acts like a voltage controlled resistor.


           2. PINCH-OFF REGION                                                                                      CHAPTER 2

           VGS is sufficient to cause the JFET to act as an open circuit as the channel

           resistance is at maximum. (ID = 0A)
           It is the point where increasing the voltage VDS will not increase the current.



           3. SATURATION/ACTIVE REGION

           JFET becomes a good conductor and is controlled by the Gate-Source voltage
           (VGS) while the Drain-Source voltage (VDS) has a little or no effect. In this

           region, the transistor can be an amplifier.                                                              CHAPTER 1
